The great thing about InVivoLink is it’s good for all parties. And unlike a lot of attempts at registry, everybody has a reason to want to be involved. For the hospital, it’s getting that real-time quality data.
We’ve already gone in and done our preferences. So when our scheduler clicks on the BMI, clicks on the age, clicks on the sex, et cetera, of the patient, then everything else is populated in terms of implant choice. So for the scheduler, it’s actually easier than it was before.
With InVivoLink, if we want to ask a question, we can change what we enter in the operating room right there. We can decide, OK, we want to ask this question on the next 100 patients. It’s easy to do, and we know that data’s going to be put in. So it makes the research easier, but I think it also makes it more accurate.
This is going to help us track how patients do in the short-term. How they feel, what their physical therapy outcomes are. And I think patients will like going to the website, telling the physician how they’re doing, and answering a few short questions. And for the therapist, it gets buy-in to that other party. The therapists are very involved in joint replacement, they want to have a say. So they’re going to be able to help us out with functional outcomes before surgery and after.
It forces us to look critically at the decisions we make when we care for patients. And it does so real-time. It’s not a six-month report. We can look at it daily and track our outcomes and make decisions based on that.
Really, we say a lot of times in our practice that without data, you cannot make a decision. InVivoLink, it is a tool that makes it easy for all parties involved in the patient care process to enter data. That data can then be looked at and the right decision can be made for that patient. Also, for future patients. So it’s definitely going to elevate the quality of our care.
Today I am proud to post the third video in our "InVivoLink Value Stories" series. The themes of reduced waste in pre-operative processes, improved care coordination, and episodic patient engagement are central to InVivoLink's value proposition for orthopedic centers of excellence. In this video, Dr. Craig Morrison covers several areas where InVivoLink has demonstrated value, including:
- Improvements in clinical efficiency
- Promoting quality care
- Benefits of real-time, accurate analytics and decision support
- Engagement of the patient and post-acute therapists
